My journey to wellness had a painful beginning
When I was 22 years old, I took my mum on a holiday to Boracay Island, the Philippines. I rented a small outrigger canoe and headed out for the day. I was swept out to sea. The canoe capsized in a tropical storm, and I spent the next 3 days holding onto the capsized canoe waiting for rescue. I was eventually rescued by Filipino fisherman who thought I was a mermaid. This was due to fact that when they found me, I was in a bikini and still wearing flippers. The story captured the worldwide press. My mother and I wrote a book about the ordeal, documenting what we both went through. The testimony about my experience is on YouTube for you to watch.
With all the thrashing around in the ocean for 3 days, I got severe whiplash and from that point on, I experienced neck pain. It would be intermittent and depended on physical work and stress that would aggravate the situation. Being in regular pain is certainly debilitating and can cause a myriad of other problems, especially difficulty sleeping.
My mum, who had been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia in 2014, then came to live with us in January 2019. We did not want her to go into a nursing home, so we converted a shed on the property into a little cottage for her and she lived there with her dog for one and a half years. It was an incredible blessing to be able to honor my mum in this way, as we had always had a close relationship.
However, the combined mental stress of looking after someone with Dementia and the intense physical work on the property really began to take its toll. I had pain every day in my joints, terrible brain fog, headaches and dizziness that caused me to not only feel unwell everyday, but prevented me from returning to my job. All of this caused me stress and anxiety and I started taking an antidepressant. They were affective but I disliked the side effects.
My mother Rachelle unfortunately got repeated doses of shingles on her head and face, which ended up causing the loss of sight in one of her eyes. She had severe pain in her lower back and knees from arthritis.
I had always been an advocate on natural remedies and took many of them myself, but I found I needed something stronger to combat the issues my mum and I were facing. So, I began searching for alternatives that were remedies found in nature itself, part of Gods greenery.
After much research I discovered the benefits of Hemp based products. After a week of taking the hemp oil, the effects were excellent, and I had more energy and reduced pain. I was able to half my medication. I saw a difference in my mother also, who after taking the medication had better cognitive function, had improved mood and decreased pain and her skin began to quickly heal from the shingles.
I became so impressed with this product that it inspired me to create a natural product of the highest quality to assist others in their recovery.
My mum is now in a nursing home that has a dementia unit. She is still the most positive and effervescent person I know, full of courage and faith. I observed many of her peers deteriorate very quickly in these settings, but other than the shingles and dementia, her health seems to be stable and I fully credit that to her faith and the hemp she takes twice daily.
As the laws begin to relax worldwide, it will be exciting to see everyone have access to Hemp to ease sufferers of mental health issues, degenerative diseases and physical pain.
Looking forward
David and I with our grandchildren Noa 3, and Elise 2 months in 2021.
